Kindergarten Prep, Yosemite, & More

July 27th, 2010 by John Fitzgerald

Robby’s playing Sly Cooper and Matthew’s taking a snooze, so I’ll pop some pictures up real quick. For those of you following Rebecca on Facebook there may be some repeats here:

This past weekend we went on a trip to Yosemite National Park with Grandma and Grandpa Bill.

We’ve also been gearing up for Robby’s kindergarten debut next month. The boys love the playground at Brook Hill Elementary.

Normally I go to work on the weekends, but the last couple of weeks have been an exception. We’ve gone to the train museum in Sacramento, our buddy Nolan’s birthday party, and a Curling demonstration just like the past nine days. Whew!

Robby finished his first round of ice skating lessons, and has officially cleared levels 1 and 2 of the Snowplow Sam program. The only skill I haven’t seen him do from level 3 is gliding on one foot. We’ll work on that.

A trip to the train museum means a trip on a train!

Robby’s always helpful with sweeping at home, too.

This was just plain silly. Do not attempt unsupervised.

Another day at the ice arena

April 11th, 2010 by John Fitzgerald

Rebecca has been taking Robby to some half-hour skating for the past couple of weeks, so with a rainy morning we decided to head down to the Redwood Ice Arena as a family excursion. The last time I’d seen him on the ice, he was reluctant to do anything without a chair or a railing present, but now he uses the boards exclusively for ramming into dramatically (and intentionally). Matthew didn’t get to skate, of course, but he had a grand time people-watching, with Rebecca and me taking turns tending him while the other tried to keep up with Robby.

After a solid hour and a half of skating (with a brief Hokey Pokey break and a hot chocolate), Robby didn’t want to get off the ice. He ran a full extra lap after they’d stopped the music and started stacking up all the chairs. Rather than settle for waiting afterward to watch the Zamboni resurface the rink, Robby thought he should ask to ride along. This was reserved for a girl that was having her birthday party, but she chickened out at the last second. We didn’t have our proper camera handy, so all I’ve got is from Rebecca’s phone:
